Egnazia is on
the coast just
north of
Savelletri,
with
impressive
Roman and
pre-roman
(Messapian)
remains,
spread over
several acres,
much of which
still has to
excavated.
There is a
small museum
on the site
and the
entrance fee
is just 3
euros (kids
and OAP's
free)
including
parking,
museum and
ruins. The
coastal part
of the site
with the
citadel and
port area,
which is cut
off from the
main site by
the coast
road, is
locked at the
moment, but
one of the
attendants
advised me to
hop over the
wall! To get
there head out
of Fasano on
the Viale
Stazione
towards
Savelletri and
follow the
signposts.
