historical
centre,
popular with

the ruins of
the Roman town
of
Fasano Egnazia

to the public
and was where
the original
inhabitants of
Fasano came
from when the
town was
abandoned
after
continual
attacks,
invasions
and eventual
destruction.
Scattered
around the
city are the
remnants and
ruins of cave
houses,
villages, farm
buildings and
even a
cathedral
crypt cut into
the soft
limestone rock
and inhabited
from the 11th
century right
through to the
14th, to view
them try a
